Thank you so much! Well I’ve been quite crafty since I can remember. When I was in grade school I won a couple of drawing contests and my mom made me take a painting class after that. Since it was forced it became a disinterest. So much so that I did everything in my power to avoid taking any type of art class all through grades 6-11. It wasn’t until my senior year that I found interest in it again.
I took the basic art classes my local community college had to offer along with some printmaking. It was a nice distraction from all the required math and science. I’ve since dropped out of school though I am considering going back and I’ll most definitely take some kind of art class to keep me leveled.
I’m not an art school kind of person. You really have to have a passion for it. Don’t get me wrong I do but in more of a personal hobby sense. I wouldn’t mind taking a class every so often though. It’s nice to pick up and learn new techniques. It also allowed me to work with various mediums and subject matter that I wouldn’t have on my own. The classroom environment can also serve as a networking tool.
To be honest all you need is the perfect playlist, your preferred medium, and practice-practice-practice. But it is nice to have the assignments and critiques from time to time. Plus, sometimes I really miss life drawing.
Good luck either way!
