I’m not sure if this is suppose to be offensive but honestly I’m more offended by the grammar and structure of your sentence than the actual [questionable] words.
Sorry, Anon — better luck next time.

I’ve been working on some art trades hence the lack of updates. So here’s an old “I don’t care about igneous rocks, your class is so boring… so I’m gonna doodle instead” doodle from 2007.

I stumbled upon this today:
http://chelpanda.tumblr.com/post/5307054836/i-made-this-for-tamara-for-craft-it-forward-i
In which the artist states: **the idea/style of this plush was NOT made by me, i totally used the same style/technique of someone else’s design who’s etsy store/name i cannot find at the moment. since i did not make a profit from this i don’t feel bad about totally biting off a bit of their creative talent. i wouldnt sell them though, it was just a gift**
Nothing pains me more than seeing a terrible rendition of a piece I’ve made and worked so hard on. Just because you won’t make a profit from said piece, doesn’t make it legal and certainly doesn’t make you seem like an artist. No artist will further their career by ripping someone off.
To those who rip off my friends and my art - do yourself a favor and create your own work. Get a sense of how it feels when you fail at something on your own when you’re trying to make a piece, trying shapes, techniques and seeing what works; and stop making really bad knock offs of our work, it really embarrasses me and cheapens my work. You’re not only making yourself look like a fool, but if you find yourself influenced by someone, why would you hinder their professionalism by integrating such poorly made pieces in the market?
So in conclusion, ripping off someone’s work either a little or a lot isn’t ok. For profit, or for none isn’t a legit reason either. You’re stealing an IP that someone’s created under their business.
So seriously, stop.
As a fellow artist, I disagree with ya. I truly understand the frustration but in a way you shouldn’t take it so personal especially since they really aren’t making profit off your work — seems quite innocent. Look at it this way, when I was a kid I remember sitting in front of the tv drawing over and over the nicktoons I watched and then handing them over to my mom. They weren’t for profit and they were very much “terrible renditions” of those cartoons. Should I have been shamed for that?
Art isn’t original, we’re all “stealing” from each other — it’s not worth the stress.
I will give you that it’s a bummer the person couldn’t bother to link her inspiration but at least she has enough morals to know not to profit from it or claim them as her own.
Instead of trashing her why not send her a note full of constructive criticism? She obviously admires you and your work, why not help her instead? I would have been devastated if the illustrators of those cartoons I drew as a kid bashed my take on their work. It’s all part of finding your artsy niche.
Also, how would you feel if George Lucas negatively approached your work and demanded compensation for it…
Just a thought.
I spent a little less than $20 on all this beautiful junk this weekend.
Bow down to this Shopping Queen!
This little fellow by the ever-astounding Jenyffer Maria is about to be sent to a very good home. <3
I know my camera is sucky but the detail in this drawing - the detaaaail! I suspect Jen’s illustrations are actually done by an elite team of dainty-handed pixies using single-bristled brushes. No human hand could be so precise!

Not a stupid question at all, anon!
Both. Usually if you see my thumb in the image it’s via my old Nikon D50, ha. Or I also use my camera if the piece is larger than the default scanner size, which is rare lately. Otherwise, I scan them — super easy. I work fairly small so it works and no damage is done.
Hope I helped. :)
My beeyootiful drawing by Jenyffer came today! With Hello Kitty stickers because that’s how she rolls.
Ahahaha, yay! ♥
Tiny doodles for Ms. Rose Wong!
Rose has a very interesting school project going on that I think all of you should be a part of! All the details can be found here:

It’s only been two days since I last drew anything but it feels like eternity. I’ll be spending this lovely Tuesday night in midst of the British invasion happening in my room and doodling.
You?
Hey HitRECord[ers], peeped in to share some doodles with you guys.
Have at it: hitrecord.org/records/681066 x
I made a new header for excusememister.tumblr.com, hooray!
If any of y’all are curious about the various things I enjoy (and at times don’t), feel free to follow.
